Paying 69.99 for Hulu+ Live tv and getting the 7.99 package deal
I upgraded from the basic 7.99 plan to the 69.99 with live tv I get no live channels non of the channels or sport teams I selected show up you can't talk to a customer representative cause the number listed doesn't work you can't troubleshoot it so what was or is the point paying 69.99 if you're going to get the 7.99 service
Very Unhappy Homeowner
Home Advisor does not honor or vouch for their referrals. I hired a matched pro.
Jaime Hernandez of Appeal Landscaping of Hempstead, NY destroyed my property. He was hired to trim my trees and shrubbery and instead did removal of my trees and shrubbery. Drove his truck on my property broke underground sprinklers and left branches and tree trunks everyone. He then asked for twice the fee as he did more work than he expected.
No one gave him the okay to remove my trees and bushes. My pine tree, my Japanese maple, my Junipters, my weeping willow, my yuccas, my lavender, etc etc are gone. I do not understand Jaime's thought process to remove live trees, shrubs, and plants. I am so sad.
I called Home Advisor.
Apparently they do not require liscens es for many of the services that they recommend pros for. I am left without any recourse, except to mourn my loss.
Home Advisors do not check out or stand by their recommendations

Service Magic - Contractor Review from Southport, England
Contractor preston loft conversions have left the job half finished & did not contact the council to have building inspector regs to check on job throughout the loft conversion. Job was started Oct 2014 & was supposed to be completed by Dec 2014. I have been left with job incomplete & contravening building regs .
Credit card fraud(Home Advisor)
These *** took my credit card number from 2010,and started charging a 29.99 fee for no reason(Aug.2014) I think law enforcement should be contacted and we should get together for a class action lawsuit. What they did was not an accident but, just like taking my card from my wallet and using it.
I am filing a police report and since it is in another state I will probably have to file a report to the Secret Service. I encourage any one that they have done this too. Contact local police and file a report, if out of state I think you have to involve the Feds.
I am also getting an attorney in Colorado to sue them. I don't care how much it cost.
- Very poor scam
Other people take some sort of action instead of just blogging.
This company is scam, They take your money without result
We paid this company for referral service to introduce and send us new customer but every customer we were referred to was already referred to at least 10 other companies and they didn't need our services and this company still charged us $35.00 per referral then their reputation got so bad so quick they changed their name to home adviser pro. We have had many issues with them and we strongly suggest not to use or sign up with them.
We are service provider and even consumers were having major issue with this company. DO NOT GIVE THIS COMPANY ANY MONEY, YOU NEVER GOING TO GET GOOD RESULT
- Very poor scam

Asking for more and more Deposits before works actually take place
On 16th May 2014, a Partner of this Company came out and took measurements of my Garden with regards to laying a Patio. After taking some measurements he came back in and said he could only hold a price of £1,500.00p if I paid him £150 immediately.
I paid him and he said that would keep the price of Job stable, (which I was unsure of because Service Magic says that their different Workforces come and then make a quote for free. I did feel a bit pressurised to say the least. I have contacted them on a few occasions asking for the cost of works to be brought down as I was having a Gardener Llandscaping at the time. (Whom I also contacted through Service Magic)....
Even he said he hadn't heard of payment up front either. As time has gone on I decided to ring again today and The same Man asked for a further £100 cash on Wednesday 22nd October . Please can you advise me as to what I should do now. I am feeling very vulnerable about this as I really haven't heard of this before, he also said that if I don't pay I will loose my £150.00p I had paid earlier this year ,and not to tell his Partner because his Partner wants to write me off the Books with no refund !!!!
Please help, I am at my wits end with worry about loosing another financial commitment until some works get started. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. Kindest Regards. Mrs Kathryn Leonard, 62 Heol Pantgwyn, Llanharry, Pontyclun, CF72 9HW.

Won't stop bombarding me with 'requests'
somehow I started getting 'amazing' leads and promises of loads of quality work through them. I'm no *** and have this kind of nonsense (promises of work, submit my credit card details!!!) regularly.
I submitted an email to the contact "Prince Kwakye" requesting they remove me from their list (spam) and his (to be honest, polite) response was to up the influx and tell me the negative reviews I read were something everyone gets! 350+ flipping unwanted emails and counting! PLEASE LEAVE ME ALONE SERVICE MAGIC!
I have enough to deal with in life already. I'll take honest leads from anyone, if I get the job I'll pay a finders fee, but it's on trust, no credit card details given out!
remove me from your 'list' as I requested. Nothing else!
Carpet cleaner
I have been cleaning for 30 years and got one person from service magic that issued a new check to me for less than what we agreed upon for the work already done. I had to take him to court and I won.
The next job referred to me for a water damage was a engineer also through service magic that agreed to the price but then rewrote his own estimate and informed me that is what it would cost do the job and that was he works for a union and so that is what he would pay me. I also won back my asking price with a signed contract.
Service magic would often call me and charge me for calls from people that would not respond or just not exist at the phone number they gave me. They are magic alright but phony magic at best.
Bathroom remodel
Handy Husband of Annapolis, MD is not a professional contractor by any stretch of the imagination. He replaced my guest bath vanity and fixtures and he did not test that he had installed the plumbing fixtures properly.
The faucet is leaking onto the bottom of the vanity and the hardwood floors below. He left the area that he was working in a complete mess. He scrubbed his tools in my kitchen sink with my pot/pan scrubber and left the mess for me to clean up, he mopped my guest bath and foyer, which he was remodeling with toilet bowl water and when I called him out on it he replied in an aggressive narcissistic manner. I called him on Saturday, November 11th and he said that he could be out on Monday November 13th.
He did nothing that he stated in his professional mission statement. I highly recommend that you remove him from your list of professionals.

They claim to do background checks of all their service pros. They claim to guarantee the pros are highly qualified pros.
My recommended pro was Transform Home Improvement. They are the worst. They made unlawful demands for financial proof of a cash sale. Transform Home Improvement wanted me to send them copies of my bank statements.
I told them they could call the bank to check and see it the check was good. They refused to go on with the contract and even start the job until they got the bank statements. I told them I was not comfortable with their demand and cancel the contract and return the check. They cashed the checks the next day.
I thought Home Advisor had my back. No, they said they could call them and see what they wanted to do. What! I tried everything to get in touch with Transform Home Improvement but all road led back to Home Advisor.
They completely blocked all calls to the contractors. I could only deal with Home Advisor, and they seemed to be dragging their feet. They were in no hurry to get my $8274.81 returned. This left me with no heat and no money to hire a reputable contractor.
Home Advisor just didn't seem to think there was a problem with giving them all the time in the world to fix this. The background check didn't mention the BBB had zero stars for this company and numerous poor reviews. I did not check these things first because they said they checked. They did not.
DO NOT TRUST THEM, THEY LIE.
I have reported this to the attorney general for fraud on both parties. Do your own background check and you will see that they don't.
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Do not use Home Advisor. They lie and hire bad companies.
Scam phone call?
919-999-****, which belongs to Service Magic, called me this morning. First, a pre-recorded message telling me my social security was being suspended and to talk to an officer press one came onstay .
I did and got the "your call is important to us..." I hung up and researched the number and found out it belonged to Service Magic.
I think this company should be reported for fraud. A more vulnerable person than I could have been scared.
User's recommendation: stay away from this company and if you get a call report it

Verified ReviewerFalse and fake leads promises not kept!
I have used service magic in the pass around 2006 thru 2008 My first 6-months was not bad but after that all downhill from there I was keep getting leads that were just not real I would get leads and the people would say they did not want any quotes, they would say they don't know what I am talking about, some people could not even speak English. But the most flustering thing was people would contact you with all this work they were all ready to go right now.
then you would never hear from them service magic reps.
would just say that just happen sometimes while that lead would remain post as available project that needed a quote. SCAM!
- I got 2-jobs
- Fake and false clients
Preferred solution: Full refund
This company is a bad business type. Stay away they charge for bids that are not in any way shape or form related to the installer of product
Still charging me and ive cancelled they are no good. Iys just like america its falling apart.
Cant wait til the true americans get back to work instead of these companies that are getting the bids and work.
Trust me they are never a thougjt in my mind. Lost so much and wont get anybody on a phone after this.
SERVICE MAGIC WAS A SCAM AND SO IS HOME ADVISOR-DO NOT SIGN UP!!!
2009 As a start up carpet cleaning business, I started paying for leads from Service Magic and mostly, I got the run around. People who had already been called so many times by other carpet cleaners, that they didn't bother answering the phone anymore or were very irritable about talking to me? Leads in 2009 were about $20 and now, I hear, they are $50 from Home Advisor.
So after getting the run around about 6 months, I finally threw in the town and cancelled my business with Service Magic (Now Home Advisor). As a result, they erased all my hard earned reviews and hi-jacked my online phone number with an 800 number that lead right back to them. When customers were trying to reach me, Service Magic reps told them I was no longer available and that other contracted services could assist me.
When I found out about this, I called the highest ranking *** at Service Magic and explained to him that this is business piracy and that I was going to take them to court and sue the *** out of them. The supervisor I spoke with did everything in his power to undo the damage caused, but it took a few weeks and finally I was free of the Service Magic Curse.
Now Home Advisor is calling me and wanting my business and I gave them a history lesson on my experiences with Service Magic and told them never to call me again! These people are relentless!!
Preys on hardworking Contractors
They collect weak and unqualified leads and sell them to as many people as they can. The basic system is flawed.
The service is saturated with hungry , needy contractors that are looking for jobs and the competition for the leads is fierce. And the leads are so bad you just end up wasting your time and money.
Service Magic sees the hard working contractors as cash cows. They use lies and deception to sign up new contractors...since there is a huge turnover of pissed off, ripped off providers they need to keep signing up new suckers.
They get your bank card and milk you dry and won't let you go without a big fight. They are shameless scam artists.
SERVICEMAGIC MADE ME ILL !!!!
Servicemagic contractors were really quite horrid and made me feel really quite ill, They were demanding i use them for my asbestos removal project at my cottage. Luckily I found a company on Google called http://www.asbestos-removal-cost.co.uk/ They sent me 5 quotes from different contractors in my area. The price was different from the contractors but they did not pester me for the work. I found the contractors that Asbestos removal cost use are very different from the bully tactics of the contractors from service magic. If you have an asbestos enquiry I would keep well away from service magic and stick with asbestos removal cost.
Great service and zero hassle. Fab company xxx
King regards Lucy Powell x

Preferred solution: They really need to check the contractors they use as they are not very good.
