I have successfully being using ServiceMagic for about two years. It has been worth the investment. They do what they say and have guidelines. Most of the few "bad leads" are from bogus inquiries by customers who lie on their applications, and i have had those leads replaced by ServiceMagic. They DO check out the leads when reported by the contractors. It is up to the Contractor to be SMART and sell the viable leads. I have an approx. 50% close ratio on the viable leads, which easily pays for the service. Consumers also have an option of rating the contractor after the project is over. Comments (11) |

2. Written by SERVICE MAGIC SPAM, on 22-12-2009 19:22 After a couple of years of home spam email from random (hijacked) email adresses, I clicked on a few. All lead back to service magic. I clicked the unsubscribe link, no change. Called service magic who assured me that they do not spam, but it still comes daily, and the links lead to them. Does any one want to do business with a company that pays people to hijack email adresses? Expect to be dissapointed.
3. Written by Missoubill, on 21-12-2009 20:49 I am a new contractor in Missouri for Servicemagic. I pride myself in fixing what the others can't fix, or won't. The fact is Servicemagic usually offers the client 3-4 companies to choose from. If the company sells their services and does a bad job, it is on the contractor, not service magic. There are alot of contractors out there that will promise the moon and give you a desert,,, At least they look the same. Service magic has done me right so far, as I have done my clients. I fixed a furnace today that had had a chronic issue of tripping the breaker every 2-3 days that the other companies said she needed a new furnace...All it was, was a loose nuetral in thew breaker box... There are some good companies with service magic and I like ti think I am 1 of them....Thanx everybody
4. Written by GRW, on 10-11-2009 22:42 Actually Mark, you are not correct. I am a Florida general contractor who pays for the service. It has been profitable for us and yes, could be better, but is good enough for my decision to stay with them for over three years.
5. Written by Mark, on 09-11-2009 21:38 Judging from all the complaints about servicemagic, I believe this is a bogus article written by servicemagics own professionals.
6. Written by dear dee the lib, on 03-10-2009 20:34 service magic has been great for our business for 2 years now we would have lost our house if we didnt join. your just upset becouse you voted for the wrong so called pressident you cry baby!! ![]()
7. Written by kindness, on 23-08-2009 10:53 Dee, can you explain? It sounds like a lot of people have good experiences with servicemagic. I think they are a good resource, but they are ofcourse not the only resource. That means that every bad experience you have with a contractor can't be blamed on servicemagic. They screen the contractors and allow customers to rate and review them. What else do you want?
8. Written by JS, on 08-08-2009 13:44 service magic has been good for my small business. people will always have a problem with a contractor, this is not a perfect world. service magic screens every contractor for insurance,lic.status,background-what more can you ask for?
9. Written by GRW, on 21-07-2009 08:50 Sorry, Dee, for your attitude. I am a State Certified General Contractor who is in the Service Magic System. The comments I made were based upon much experience with Service Magic, and more experience as a business owner and marketing/sales/management professional. Basically, if you "have issues", maybe you should try to remodel or build something yourself...or go somewhere else for your contractor source. GRW
10. Written by Misti, on 20-07-2009 17:13 I have used Service Magic twice now and am about to go for a third time. As a consumer, Service Magic has been the best way to find help in the city, as i havent been around here long enough to catch up on the word-of-mouth referrals I had been used to in a small town.
