I was looking at Service Magic's top referring sites at http://siteanalytics.compete.com/servicemagic.com/ They are getting a ton of traffic from MyPoints and Cotterweb. From what I understand, both of those sites pay members to click on advertisements whether they are interested those products or services or not. Are they paying these sites to drive consumers to their site just to earn points or money? I thought they were charging their member companies for consumers who were interested in home services not just consumers who were paid to go there.I guess that's why the leads don't answer or call back. | 1. Written by Shane Fowler, on 09-02-2010 09:19 Lately Service magic has sent me 35 of 40 bad leads.. This is unacceptable. Many people don't return phone calls or emails that you place. At an average lead cost of $31 thats $1085 we have wasted. |
| 2. Written by va contractor, pac inc., on 21-01-2010 22:15 most of you here are like most of my buddies that work job after job with the same attitude day in day out. Some things work for some that dont work for others. My company would not be where it is today if it was not for service magic, you have to learn to make there system work for you, if you dont have so called money in the bussiness you must start slow with low cost leads so that your losses are low, you cant have all 50 dollars leads with 500 hundred dollars in the bank, and another thing service magic should be used in your company as a filler, not the main course, you need to set it up and forget it , it will work and has, when you get a lead you have to be on the ball 7 days a week... spend your time wisely sell jobs and stop crying on the internet... |

Written by J & D REMODELING, on 10-01-2010 19:33 Out of 30 or more leads I have signed one job, most wont reply to messages or e-mail if i do talk to one they are not ready, not interrested, busy, phone disconnected dont own the home or somthing, dont want a home visit,my time all wasted, somthing is real wrong |
| 5. Written by Charlie, on 07-01-2010 15:15 One of the problems I find with service magic is they have grown so quickly that the quality of leads and service has really diminished. Plus the level of transparency to where the leads are coming from is pretty much non-existent. Why would I ever want to pay for one that only submitted their project to win a free iPod or be incentivised to in another shady way. It's ridiculous. Of course my best leads are going to be from traffic I drive to my own site or through referrals. If I must complement these efforts with lead gen sources, I would much rather be in a place like Angie's List or BestContractors.com where the consumer apparently chooses to contact me based on my own company info and ratings. I'm thinking service magic will really have to focus on better leads and service if they plan to solidify their dominance in the space over the long run. |
| 6. Written by U R A Dumb A- S--s, on 07-01-2010 10:57 Service magic is just the first round of corporate low life trying to break another business they have no business in, they have no talent, no skills and no licences. They blanket the internet with adds to suck up any and all leads they can. The home owners suffer, the contractors suffer the only profit being taken is by u guessed it service magic, du.. Spend that money on personal marketing and be professional the work will come to u and service magic will go poof and be gone. |

| 8. Written by luis, on 14-12-2009 15:08 service magic is a large company....not suprised the pay somewhere somehow for people to call...you may think it benefit both(homeowner and small bussiness)reality is diferent...contractors have to spend several hundred dollars to get a decent job and with an economy like nowdays customer wants to save too! not really hard to understand that a people is not willing to pay the contractor cost of operation when this magic services are pricy and not effective...the answer for the contractor is how many leads can you make effective sales out of ten...hope you get the point. |
| 9. Written by Shae Fowler, on 11-12-2009 11:40 Although you can get a lot of bad leads from service magic from time to time... If you are a small business w/o an established client base you need them to stay open. I've been using them for 4 years now and they are much better than the phone book. I don't always get the job or even to talk to the people, but you win some you lose some. |
| 10. Written by service magic is a scam, on 08-12-2009 12:40 i have been with service magic for a while and found out they were hiring local people in the area to fill out leads so they can charge the 35 dollarfee to get the leads. thats fine but when the lead does not go or they dont even own a house we cant get a refund credit service magic is a scam and only benefits the service magic company they should close and open up as service magic scam to contractors. you the owner better be scared someday you will piss the wtrong person off and they will find you and do a service magic scam on u. |
